DESCRIPTION: This walk around the delightful township of Daylesford will start at Lake Daylesford with a launch of the GDTA’s new Lerderderg Track Walk or Ride Guide which covers the 84 km Track designed and constructed from Daylesford to Bacchus Marsh via Blackwood. The launch will feature GDTA Patron, Steve Moneghetti, and a welcome to country by Uncle Ricky Nelson. The walk will take us around Lake Daylesford through the historic township and then up through the old courthouse and police precinct to Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens where we will enjoy a picnic lunch on the lawns under the sprawling blue cedar, one of a number of trees in the Gardens listed by the National Trust. Short commentary about significant locations will be made along the way. Walkers will make there own wat about 1 km back to the parking lot where the walk will start.

DIFFICULTY: The walk is rated easy. The total distance is about 6 km and the total elevation gain is less than 150 metres. The walk is mostly on paved footpaths and through public gardens.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: If you are ill on the day of the walk, please stay at home. Please call or text the walk leader if you are unable to attend on the day.

DOGS: Dogs on a lead are allowed on this walk Refer to GDTA dog policy.

GUEST MEMBERSHIP AND INSURANCE: The walk is free to GDTA members or members of BWV affiliated clubs and also open to non-members. For non-members, a $10 fee is payable for insurance cover under the Bushwalking Victoria insurance policy. Please note that children under 5 years cannot be covered by this policy.

BRING: It is recommended that you carry a personal first aid kit, your own medication, water bottles, sun screen and personal hiking gear (sun glasses, walking sticks, small pack, etc). Wear clothing appropriate for the predicted weather conditions on the day. Bring light refreshments for breaks.
