TIME: 2:45 for a 3:00 start

DURATION: 2 hours including breaks, 3.5 kkm

WALK LEADER: Tim Bach

DIFFICULTY: Medium

DESCRIPTION: This short (3.5 km) but challenging walk follows the historic Loddon Water Race. The race was built in the 1860s and refurbished in the 1930s to channel water from the Upper Loddon to mining operations around Fryerstown. The race is well above the river in this section and provides commanding views of the Loddon River valley. The walk will conclude with light refreshments by the river.

DIFFICULTY: Medium. There are no made tracks. The walk is mostly along the embankment of the Loddon Water Race. There are some hills. The walk requires some bush-bashing and negotiation through long grass and around fallen trees.

DOGS: Dogs are allowed on the walk but must be kept on a leash.

REGISTRATION: Registration is essential no later than mid-day Monday, April 8.

If you have difficulty with on-line registration, contact the walk leader, Tim Bach, at president@gdt.org.au

BRING: Walkers should bring their own first-aid kit and any required personal medications, water bottles, sun screen and personal hiking gear (sun glasses, walking sticks, small pack, etc). Wear clothing appropriate for the predicted weather conditions on the day. Hiking boots or good walking shoes are recommended. Bring light refreshments for aperitifs at the end of the walk

MEET: Location and time details will confirmed on registration. The start is off Vaughan Springs Road in Glenlyon. The easiest access is from Daylesford-Malmsbury Road in Drummond North.
