Bendigo Goldfields Walk/Ride

BENDIGO GOLDFIELDS WALK/RIDE (13 km)

Sandhurst Reservoir – Bendigo Railway Station

Ironbark trees with their deep, fissured black-bark trunks become increasingly prominent from the reservoir north to Bendigo, until by Diamond Hill they dominate the forest.

Gentle climb to Diamond Hill where the flotsam of a dozen mines is evident from mullock heaps to deeply sluiced gullies, from building and stamp battery foundations to mine shafts and bedrock exposed by the stripping of soil.

The track descends to zig zag across bitumen Diamond Hill Rd, linking into the Bendigo Bushland Trail, which circles the city. This forms a circuit walking track for which you can find a map on this website.

Follow sandy shared use track lined with wildflowers that leads to the Salomon Gully Flora Reserve, well within Bendigo’s suburbs. In the last stage, look for blue street signs that lead you to the railway station.
