Patrick Hope 2017

A founding Member, Life Member (2008) and long-term Treasurer

In 2017 we said farewell to a great man and an enormous contributor to the GDTA and its Committee for almost 25 years. For close to 20 years, Patrick was our very effective and greatly valued Treasurer. Frankly, without Patrick, the Great Dividing Trail would not have happened at all.
Patrick Charles Hope was born in the UK in 1937, and died in Ballarat on 3 February 2017 after a long and debilitating illness.
Patrick made huge and selfless community contributions to many community organisations and causes for much of his time in Ballarat and region, including his hometown of Buninyong, leading to him justly being awarded an OAM (Order of Australia Medal).
Patrick made a huge contribution over many decades to the University of Ballarat and its antecedent organisations, at one stage acting as its Deputy Vice Chancellor.
Patrick is sadly missed by all who knew him.
