SUMMARY:Annual Wildflower Walk 1810
DESCRIPTION:\n\nAnnual Wildflower Walk and Photo Competition\n\nDATE: Sun O
ctober 18\n\nTIME: 10.00 AM for 10.15 start. 5-7km Walk duration is approx
imately 3.5 hrs.\n\nLOCATION: Castlemaine environs\n\nWALK LEADER: Gib Wet
tenhall\n\nDESCRIPTION:\n\nThe traditional GDTA Wildflower Walk is a rambl
e around an area where wildflowers are expected to be in abundance. We wil
l spend the time finding\, identifying and photographing wildflowers. Some
one will explain the phone app iNaturalist. which we can use as a tool to
identify the flowers we find. And if iNaturalist can't figure it out\, we
will have local naturalist Tanya Loos as a backup. Take the time to add th
e app to your phone before you come on the walk and develop a little skill
in it's use.\n\nTwo bottles of Bests wine have been donated by Gib Wetten
hall for the best photos taken on the day and posted on the GDTA Facebook
page. Photo judging will be by Tim and Gib who are trustworthy\, honest an
d incorruptible. Composition\, creativity and focus are fundamental criter
ia. Wildflowers should be native species indigenous to the area. Points al
so for unique or rare species. Get out your camera\, figure out the Macro
setting and practise taking some photos before the walk.\n\nThis walk does
not involve a lot of fancy footwork\, distance or difficult terrian. It
’s more about staring intently at what’s beneath your feet.\n\nThe loc
ation\, in the vicinity of Castlemaine\, will be selected in the week prio
r with expert input from naturalist\, Tanya Loos. Registrants will be advi
sed by email by Friday\, Oct 16\, of the exact meeting place.\n\nDIFFICULT
