DESCRIPTION: A car shuffle is required to get to the start of the walk, and will include a visit to the Mt
Macedon War Memorial Cross. The walk duration is approximately 4.5 to 5.0 hours including stops.
The 11 km walk takes us to the Camels Hump Lookout for great views out to the northeast, Days Picnic
Ground, Sanitorium Lake where we will have lunch, Sanitorium Picnic Ground, a short climb up Mt
Towrong, then a steep descent to finish back in the Mt Macedon township.
DIFFICULTY: The walk is of moderate difficulty with most being on well formed tracks and on a gentle
downhill grade; however, there is a steep climb to the Camels Hump lookout, and the descent from Mt
Towrong is steep and rocky with some awkward steps. Walking poles will be handy if you use them.
HEALTH AND SAFETY: If you are ill on the day of the walk, please stay at home. The walk will be cancelled if
there is a Total Fire Ban or if it will be excessively hot. Please call or text the walk leader if you are unable
to attend on the day.
DOGS: Dogs are permitted in the Macedon Regional Park, but must be on a lead at all times.
GUEST MEMBERSHIP AND INSURANCE: The walk is free to members and open to non-members. For non-
