 \nLOCATION: Centre of Blackwood. Final meeting details will be emailed to

 SCRIPTION:  An easy 4 km walk mostly on made roads with some steepish hi
 lls. The walk was developed by local resident Sue Donnelly of Blackwood 
 and District Historical Society in collaboration with the Great Dividing T
 rail Association (GDTA).  The walk will include Red Hill and Golden Poi
 nt Townships\, historic log cabins\, Blackwood Cemetery and the Police Cam
 p.  There will be a special focus on Blackwood's pioneer women who were
  prominent in the town's commercial development.  We will end our walk
  around 12.15 pm. You are then invited to join us in the garden of the Bla
 ckwood Post Office  for lunch. You can either bring your own\, or purchas
 e lunch and drinks from the Post Office Cafe. On completion of the walk yo
 u will receive a copy of the GDTA ' Blackwood\, Lose yourself in nature a
 nd history' map which will allow you to explore further around Blackwood o
 n your own. The map has links to extensive information about Blackwood's h
 istory.\nDIFFICULTY: The walk is rated Easy according to Bushwalking Vic
 toria criteria but only suitable for people who regularly walk at least 4 
 km.\n\nHEALTH AND SAFETY: If you are ill on the day of the walk\, please 
 stay at home.  Please call or text the walk leader if you are unable to
  attend.\n\nTOILETS: There is a public toilet at the starting/finishing po
 int.\n\nGUEST MEMBERSHIP AND INSURANCE: The walk is free to GDTA members
 . Non members are required to pay a $10 registration fee and sign in to v
 alidate insurance cover under the Bushwalking Victoria insurance policy. P
 lease note that children under 5 years cannot be covered by this policy.\n
 \nDOGS: Dogs are not allowed on this walk.\n\nREGISTRATION: Registration 
 via the GDTA website is essential. (https://www.gdt.org.au/events/mooraboo
 l-seniors)  Bookings open on 21 September. Check your email for confirma
 tion. If you don’t get one within a couple of hours\, contact the walk o
 rganiser.\n\nBRING: It is recommended that you carry a personal first aid 
 kit\, your own medication\, water bottles\, sunscreen and personal hiking 
 gear (sun glasses\, walking sticks\, small pack\, etc). Wear clothing ap
 propriate for the predicted weather conditions on the day. Bring water and
  light refreshments as needed.\n\nMEET:  You can expect to be contacted b
 y email by the walk leader with final details\, including where and when w
