Mt Greenock GDTA Tour and Walk, including Mt Glasgow & Merin Merin Wetland
DATE: Monday December 9
TIME: 9.15am for a 9.30am start; includes BYO lunch; finish approx 2.00pm
DISTANCE: 20km driving; 5km total walking, including a steep climb to the Mt Greenock
summit

DESCRIPTION: This tour is focussed on a number of lesser known legacies associated
with Mount Greenock volcanic crater in southern Dja Dja Wurrung Country. These
include a Deep Time perspective, Major Mitchell’s visit, deep lead mining and a history
of licenced and unlicensed grazing on the present-day Geological Reserve. The tour
also takes in a visit to the tiny, remarkable but largely unknown Mount Glasgow Scenic
Reserve. It also includes a short interpretive walk on the edge of the beautiful Merin
Merin Wetlands.
DOGS: Dogs on a leash are allowed.
REGISTRATION: This registration link be will active a fortnight prior to the event;
numbers are limited; registration closes two days prior to the event.
RELATED EVENT: At 8.00pm on the same day (Mon 9 Dec at the Maryborough Library
Resource Centre) Barry Golding is giving a public presentation called ‘Mount Greenock
Speaks’ focusing on the mountain’s lesser known legacies. Registration is not required:
all are welcome.

MEET: Dunach (near Talbot) The exact meeting location will provided to registrants by
email several days before the event. Participants will be invited to share transport at the
start to minimise the number of vehicles in convoy.
