DATE: Sat 11 April 2026

TIME: 7.30am start. Walk duration is approximately 2.5 hours. We’ll be back in time for any CresFest events which start at 10am.

LOCATION: Meet at Creswick RSL (Cresfest Hub) 60 Albert Street, Creswick

WALK LEADERS: Barry Golding; Arie Baelde, from GDTA.

DESCRIPTION: This walk takes in some lesser known historic places with connections to trees and forestry right on the edge of Creswick, including: Creswick Arboretum, Forestry School (now part of The University of Melbourne), the La Gerche walk and Botanical Lake.

DIFFICULTY: Easy, 5km

DOGS: Dogs on a lead are permitted on this walk.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: If you are ill on the day of the walk, please stay at home. Please call or text the walk leader if you are unable to attend.

GUEST MEMBERSHIP AND INSURANCE: Non Great Dividing Trail members need to bring $10 in cash on the day for walker insurance cover under the Bushwalking Victoria insurance policy.

BRING: Carry all you typically need for a short bushwalk (personal first aid kit, water & a snack). Wear clothing (including study footwear) appropriate for walking in the bush on gravel tracks and the forecast weather conditions on the day.

BOOKINGS: Bookings are essential via the ‘GDTA Events’ web page, and open 2 weeks before the walk (28 March).
