DESCRIPTION:\nBlackwood Town Walk 1202\nDATE: Wed Feb 12\n\nDATE: Wednesday
  12 February 2025\n\nTIME: 9.45 for a 10.00am start. Walk duration is  ap
 proximately 3 hours including stops.\n\nLOCATION: Blackwood. Details will 
 be emailed to registered walkers prior to the event. Registrations are ess
 ential before noon on Monday\, 10 February 2025.\n\nWALK LEADERS: Sue Donn
 elly\, Paul Kukiel (BDHS)\, Registration: Arie Baelde (GDTA)\n\nDESCRIPTIO
 N: We will be road testing an 8 km section of the circuit walk that has be
 en developed by Sue Donelly and Paul Kukiel of Blackwood and District His
 torical Society in collaboration with GDTA. This walk will be published in
  the forthcoming Lerderderg Track Guide. Both Paul and Sue have a deep kno
 wledge of Blackwood's fascinating history and the many physical reminders 
 in the landscape. The walk will include Red Hill and Golden Point Township
 s\, the Chinese Camp\, the Cemetery\, the Police Camp\, log cabins and wa
 ter races.  There will be a special focus on Blackwood's pioneer women w
 ho were prominent in the town's commercial development.\n\nDIFFICULTY: The
  walk is mostly on roads and good tracks but the narrow elevated water rac
 es and some off track sections make the rating moderate. Sturdy boots or s
 hoes and walking poles are recommended.\n\nDOGS: Dogs are not allowed on t
 his walk.\n\nHEALTH AND SAFETY: If you are ill on the day of the walk\, pl
 ease stay at home. It will be Summer so keep an eye on the expected Temper
 ature\, we cancel events at late notice if too hot\, fire bans etc. Please
  call or text the walk leader if you are unable to attend.\n\nGUEST MEMBER
 SHIP AND INSURANCE: The walk is free to members and open to non-members. F
 or non-members\, a $10 fee is payable for insurance cover under the Bushwa
 lking Victoria insurance policy. Please note that children under 5 years c
 annot be covered by this policy.\n\nBRING: It is recommended\, you carry a
  personal first aid kit\, your own medication\, water bottles\, sun screen
  and personal hiking gear (sun glasses\, walking sticks\, small pack\, etc
 ). Wear clothing appropriate for the predicted weather conditions on the d
 ay.\n\nBOOKINGS: Bookings are essential and open 2 weeks before the walk. 
 You may cancel your booking by returning to this page and clicking the can
 cel button. This will free up a space for other walkers. If the walk is fu
 ll\, you can elect to be put on the waiting list. You will be emailed if a
  space becomes available. You have 24hrs before the space is withdrawn and
