Launch of the new Lerderderg Track guidebook at Blackwood
With the launch in Blackwood on 24 October of the new Lerderderg Track Walk or Ride Guide, the GDTA now has complete map & track notes coverage of the whole of the 300km-long Great Dividing Trail Network captured within a sturdy wiro-bound guidebook format. The launch was undertaken by Cr Moira Berry from Moorabool Shire Council in the town park reserve before some 50 people. Both Moorabool and Hepburn shires contributed to the guide, as did the community Bendigo banks of Bacchus Marsh and Daylesford. The new guidebook acts as a companion to the GDTA’s highly successful, award-winning Goldfields Track Walk or Ride Guide. It follows a similar style and format, sandwiching the large scale 1:17,500 ratio map spreads between essays on the Lerderderg’s wildly diverse natural beauty and vivid slices of its cultural heritage, people and places. The launch was preceded by a circuit walk led by locals Sue Donnelly and Arie Baelde of the town’s new interpretive signage placards, installed by the GDTA with funding support from the Blackwood Progress Association and advice from the Blackwood & District Historical Society.
