SPRING WILDFLOWER WALK AROUND THE MONK

DATE: SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH

TIME: 10.00 FOR A 10.15 START

DURATION: 8-10 KM, ~4 HOURS PLUS LUNCH BREAK

WALK LEADERS: IRMA ZIMMERMAN, JOHN LEWIS AND GIB WETTENHALL

DIFFICULTY: Medium as includes a steep climb and a slippery water race

DESCRIPTION: Around and to the top of The Monk near Castlemaine following water races, one of which is little used and has some amazing rock work and views. Bottles of Best’s red wine to be given as prizes for the best wildflower pix posted on the GDTA Facebook page. Last year’s winners, Irma and John, live in Castlemaine and have helped devise this year’s route.

DOGS: Dogs on a leash are allowed.

BRING: A camera as well as your own first-aid kit and any required personal medications, water bottles, personal hiking gear (sun glasses, walking sticks, small pack, etc). Wear clothing appropriate for the predicted weather conditions on the day. Hiking boots or good walking shoes are recommended. Bring lunch.

MEET: Location provided to those who have registered a few days prior to walk.
