GDTA GUIDED WALK – OVER THE TOP (#9)
DATE: Sunday, May 28
TIME: 9:30 -1:30 (3 ½ to 4 hours including rest breaks) DIFFICULTY MEDIUM
WALK LEADER: Mike Gustus (e: firstname.lastname@example.org) (m: 0400 214 055)
DESCRIPTION: This walk is 11km along bush tracks through dense regrowth manna and messmate gum forest that has been logged for 150 years. What makes this walk medium instead of easy is there will be some track blockages to negotiate. We’ll get up close to the big trees. Highlights of the circuit will be crossing the headwaters of the Werribee River and walking over the top of the Great Divide twice. The walk is Walk #9 in the GDTA’s Central Victorian Walk and Rides Circuits booklet.
HEALTH AND SAFETY: If you are ill on the day of the walk, please stay at home. Please call or text the walk leader to say you are unable to attend.
GUEST MEMBERSHIP AND INSURANCE: The walk is free to members and open to non-members. For non-members, a $5 insurance levy is payable for cover under the Bushwalking Victoria insurance policy. Please note that children under 5 years cannot be covered by this policy.
BRING: Walkers should bring their own first-aid kit and any required personal medications, water bottles, sun screen and personal hiking gear (sun glasses, walking sticks, small pack, etc). Bring snacks for morning tea and lunch.
MEET: Location and time details will confirmed on Saturday before the walk. Registrations are essential before noon on Saturday, May 27.
