GDTA Guided Walk – Beehive Gully Family Walk

DATE: Sunday, April 16

TIME: 9:30 -12:00 (2 to 3 hours including rest breaks)

WALK LEADER: Tim Bach (e: timothy.m.bach@gmail.com, m: 0409 232 572)

DESCRIPTION: This walk is intended for families with school age children. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The walk distance is approximately 5 km along undulating forest trails. There are no steep ascents or descents. The walk takes us through open forest and along Beehive Gully which was extensively eroded by sluice mining in the late 1800s. The midpoint of the walk is the Chocolate Mill where we can enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate before the return journey via Hunts Dam. (If your hiking limit is 2 to 3 k, you could arrange for a family member to pick you up at the Chocolate Mill.) The walk is roughly the northern half of Walk #5 in the GDTA’s Central Victorian Walk and Rides Circuits booklet.
