GDTA Member Lunch – Sunday October 23
GDTA OCTOBER GUIDED WALK & MEMBERS LUNCH
Celebrating 30 years since the GDTA began
SUNDAY 23 OCTOBER, 9.30am start
Leader: Gib Wettenhall
We will be having a free Members BBQ lunch at the Wombat Station rotunda after a guided walk through the impressive railway cuttings of this 19th century abandoned railway line that once ran between Creswick and Daylesford.
We’ll stop for a celebratory drink and a talk by GDTA founder, Barry Golding, at the wooden sign in the longest cutting that marks the spot where the Great Dividing Trail was launched 30 years ago.
We will explore one (or two) of the wonderfully crafted brick culverts in the railway embankments. The 10.8km circuit is relatively flat and is described as Walk 10 in the Central Victorian Highlands Walk and Ride Circuits guide, published in the GDTA in 2021. Available to purchase for $25 in the SHOP under Guides: https://www.gdt.org.au/shop
We will have an inspiring speaker at the Member’s Lunch – to be announced! The lunch will include salads and bread. We’ll supply celebratory drinks in the railway cutting, but it’s BYO for the lunch. If you’re vegetarian, please email Gib at: president@gdt.org.au
To register for the walk, click on the link below. Each walker must register separately. Only GDTA members can register for this event (you could join to take part!). Registrants will be informed of the exact starting point by email beforehand. Walkers will need to dress for the predicted weather on the day and bring water and a first aid kit. Registrants with active COVID or flu symptoms should not participate on the day.
Registrations close on Wednesday 19 October and numbers are limited.
