GDTA August Guided Walk – Garfield Wheel & Welsh Village

Sunday August 21st.
Walk Grade Medium
Leader Mick Evans

This is a 10.5km walk, taking in the historic sites of The Garfield Wheel and The Welsh Village, where we will have brief stops and explore some of the history of the areas. As we hope to be able to provide information from a local historian at these sites, it can be anticipated that the walk will take a little longer. So allow for lunch and a full day. For those who finish earlier please make that known and a car shuttle can be arranged.

Some parts of the track may be slippery and there are a couple of steep pitches. The walk surface varies from good bush tracks to narrow rocky walking tracks.

Walking poles and sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Caution should be observed as there are a number of very steep mine shafts in the area.

Wild flowers and birds should be in abundance, so cameras and binoculars could be useful.

Bring water, lunch and a personal first aid kit.

A short car shuffle may apply for those who wish to finish earlier
Numbers are restricted to no more than 30. Covid precautions should be observed with mask wearing a personal preference

Please register via the following link  and submit a separate form for each walker:

Where to meet will be provided after registration.
