GDTA Guided Walk – Sunday October 10
The Pickpocket & Rise and Shine Reserves
Near Strangways via Newstead – Time 9.30
Walk Grade Easy – Leader Ed Butler
The walk will be about 8 km and will be off-track for a couple of km through light scrub. The walk is through a little known reserve with the potential for wildflowers and lots of bird life. The two reserves were minor goldfields and then a gravel resource for the local shire. Threading through the reserve is a water race built by the “susso’s” in the time of the depression to alleviate water shortages in the Newstead area over summer. Owing to some rough parts good boots & walking poles are recommended. Bring a lunch, water, personal 1st aid kit and a sense of humour.
Covid restrictions allow us a group of 30 as long as we don’t re-unite families and keep a social distance.
Please register via the following link and submit a separate form for each walker. https://gdt.org.au/oct-walk-rego
Where to meet etc will be provided after registration.
