GOLDFIELDS TRACK CLOSURE – CASTLEMAINE PLANTATION
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CLOSURE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 2022.
A 2.5 km section of the Goldfields Track (GT) north-west of Expedition Pass Reservoir will be closed from July to November this year to allow HVP to carry out plantation harvesting.
During that 4-month period, both walkers and riders proceeding to and from Castlemaine Station in the direction of Bendigo will need to divert via Templeton, Hargraves and Myring Streets, and Blakeley Road. See the map below.

The Goldfields Track will be closed to all track users between points A and B.
Walkers heading towards Castlemaine from the Bendigo direction leave the normal GT walk route at point A, proceeding straight on west on Specimen Gully Road for 1,5km to point C. At this point, turn left onto Blakeley Road and follow it for 3.2km to Myring Street. Turn right for 200 metres, left into Hargraves Street, and after 1.5km right into Templeton Street. After 500 metres you will arrive at Castlemaine Station.
Riders from Harcourt going to Castlemaine leave the GT at C and follow the same route described above to Castlemaine Station.
Walkers and riders heading north from Castlemaine towards Bendigo will follow the above route in reverse to point C on Specimen Gully Road. At C, riders turn left to join the normal GT bike route. Walkers turn right at C and proceed easterly for 1.5km to point A where they join the normal GT walk route.
Apart from the section A to B, all other parts of the Goldfields Track in this area are open for local walks and rides.
