GDTA July Circuit Walk
Long Forest Fauna & Flora Reserve
Sunday 28th July.
12km approx, Rating: Easy.
Long Forest near Bacchus March, Sunday 28 July
Leader: Barb Guerin & Lionel Jenkins
Grade: Medium
Distance: ca 15 km
Long Forest contains an interesting contrast of Bull Mallee vegetation on the higher dry ridges and Blue Box and Manna Gum forest in the Coimadai Creek valley. The Mallee is the most southern example of the species that somehow got separated from its real home in the desert environment of the north west of the state.
This walk takes in both the higher ridges and the creek valley. It involves some off track sections, some relatively short steep climbs and some rough ground.
